The Berry College Chaplain’s Office will host Rebecca DeYoung, a philosophy professor at Calvin College, discussing vices and virtues in relation to spiritual formation at 7 p.m. on Monday in the Krannert Spurill Ballroom, Berry College, 2277 Martha Berry Highway. DeYoung’s focus of study is ethics, ancient and medieval philosophy and Thomas Aquinas’ work with ethics and the seven deadly sins. The lecture is free and open to the public. A beginner’s line dance

class will be held at the Charles Parker Senior Center, 1325 Kingston Highway, on

The Rome chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness conducts free educationa­l classes about mental illness. Peerto-Peer is a free, eight-week course for adults living with a mental illness who want to learn more about their illness and how to live a fruitful life. The class begins on

Lovejoy Baptist Church will host “A Promise to

Keep” banquet to benefit an academic scholarshi­p program which financiall­y assists and mentors honor students through high school and into college. This year’s event will be held Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Lovejoy Baptist Church, 436 Branham Ave. Doors open at 5 p.m. Ticket prices are $45 for adults and $35 for students and seniors, 62 and over. Tickets for children accompanie­d by an adult can be purchased for $15. Rev. Fred Taylor will be the keynote speaker.

The exhibit showcases textiles from an ongoing series started in 2006 and informed by Pollack’s studies of Eastern spiritual philosophi­es, Christiani­ty and New England Transcende­ntalism. The Southern Cruisers

Riding Club is seeking new members. Rides take place twice a month in Northwest Georgia and Northeast Alabama and most are less than 500 miles.
