Northwest Georgia WINDS present patriotic concert May 21

The Northwest Georgia WINDS will present an annual patriotic concert, called ‘My Country Tis of Thee’, Tuesday, May 21, at the Rome City Auditorium starting at 7:30 p.m.

Admission is free.

The concert will feature the world premiere of “Jamie’s Song,” composed by Ryan Ward, graduating senior from Rome High School in honor of his friend Jamie Hughes (2003-2018). Hughes was a RHS student who died last September of cancer at the age of 14.

The concert will also feature performanc­es of patriotic songs and hymns by the 16-member West Georgia Ukulele Ensemble as well as solos by soprano Tara Warfield, professor of voice at Shorter University.

Also scheduled to perform is G.I. Jive, a vocal trio in the ‘Andrews Sisters’ style.

The WINDS is Rome’s all volunteer community concert band now in its 32nd year.
