Traffic stop leads to drug arrest for Cedartown fugitive

A Cedartown man remained in jail without bond Tuesday after a traffic stop led to several drug charges.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Willie James Lee Jr., 45, of 230 Plantation Ave. in Cedartown, was arrested following a traffic stop on Chateau Drive for a tag light violation. Drugs were discovered during a search of his car. He also had an outstandin­g warrant from Alabama.

Lee is charged with felony possession of methamphet­amine and possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance and fugitive from justice. He is also charged with misdemeano­r possession of marijuana, possession of drug-related objects, drugs not in the original container and a tag light violation.

Report: Woman arrested at Royal Inn with drugs

A Rome woman remained in jail Tuesday without bond following a drug arrest at the Royal Inn.

Martha Michelle Chambers, 35, of 1201 Martha Berry Blvd., Room 120, was found with two small baggies of methamphet­amine, a glass smoking device, three hydrocodon­e pills and suspected heroin.

Chambers is charged with felony possession of methamphet­amine, three counts of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and possession of heroin. She is also charged with possession of drug-related objects and drugs not in the original container.

Woman charged with financial card fraud

A Silver Creek woman is charged with six counts of felony financial transactio­n card fraud after allegedly using another person’s bank card without permission.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Debra Renee Graham, 62, of 6137 Rockmart Road, was picked up Tuesday and is alleged to have used someone else’s bank card on at least six occasions between Oct. 28 and Nov. 1.

A warrant for her arrested claims she used the card to obtain goods or services worth more than $2,300 from the Walmart on Cartersvil­le Highway.

Graham was being held Tuesday night with no bond set.

Police: Woman had meth in her purse

Rome police filed a felony possession of meth charge against a Floyd County woman Tuesday after an officer allegedly discovered a quantity of methamphet­amine in her purse.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Annie Marie Adams, 46, of 2303 Calhoun Road, was detained by police in the 2200 block of Shorter Avenue around 12:15 p.m. Tuesday when a plastic bag containing suspected methamphet­amine was found in her pocketbook.

Adams was being held Tuesday night with no bond set. Doug Walker, associate editor
