BLAKER, Vena Lou

Mrs. Vena Lou Blaker, age 85, of Rome, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at a local hospital.

Mrs. Blaker was born in Dekalb County, Alabama on August 7, 1935, daughter of the late John Franklin Stephens and the late Alma Charlsie Jones Stephens. She was a member of Mcfall Baptist Church. Prior to retirement, Mrs. Blaker worked for several years in housekeepi­ng at Battey State Hospital.

Survivors include her husband, Wilburn Blaker; a daughter, Teresa Faloon (Hugh), Rome; a son, Gerald David Pope, Rome; two grandsons, David A. Blalock and Chris Faloon (Haley); ¿YH JUHDW JUDQGFKLOG­UHQ 6Hirra Barnett, Skye Blalock, Taylor Blalock, Hunter Faloon, and Lindsey Faloon; a special cousin, Charlotte; nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at 11am at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with the 5HY .HQW 7KRPDV RI¿FLDWING. Social distancing measures will be followed, and masks are requested.

Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, has charge of the arrangemen­ts. ist Church. V. J. had a great sense of humor and was a very loving person. She loved to feed the birds that gathered around her house.

She is survived by her brother, Preston Osley, Jr.; her sisters, Dolores Osley Stocks (Clifford), Linda Osley Terry, and Yvonne Osley O’brien (Gerald); several nieces and nephews; her special dog, Trixie, and her special friend, Maxine Strickland.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at 2:00pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, with the Rev. Steve .HOOH\ RI¿FLDWLQJ $ Sulvate Interment will follow in Beech Creek UMC Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, on Sunday from 1:00 pm until the service hour. Social distancing guidelines will be followed.
