‘Follow the conductor’: East Central students take trip through time to learn about Black history

Left: In honor of Black History Month, East Central Elementary gifted teacher Gary Jones helped put together a virtual event that taught students about the bravery and persistenc­e of Black heroes throughout American history. Below, Left: The first station stop on East Central’s trip through history was the kindergart­en classes, where each group gave a different presentati­on, complete with their own artwork. Several of the people they spoke of were pioneering baseball player Jackie Robinson, Vice President Kamala Harris, Martin Luther King Jr. and former President Barack Obama.
