Report: Polk man shot truck, pointed gun at person

A Cedartown man was held without bond Thursday after he was arrested on a warrant accusing him of shooting at a person’s truck and causing over $500 worth of damage, reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

On May 31, at a Pleasant Valley Road residence, Thomas Cody Tanner, 35, also pointed a loaded handgun at the person’s head.

He also punched the person, causing a laceration to their face.

He is charged with felony aggravated assault, second degree criminal damage to property, misdemeano­r reckless conduct and battery.

Report: Inmate tried to smuggle contraband

into prison

A former Floyd County Prison inmate is accused of conspiring with two people to smuggle drugs into the prison.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Samuel Marquest Sewell, 37, conspired with the two on recorded phone calls and during a visitation to smuggle 106.9 grams of marijuana, 440 grams of tobacco and five packs of rolling papers.

Sewell had the items dropped off in a trash can at Public Animal Welfare Services back in late 2019.

He is charged with felony conspiracy to commit a felony, use of communicat­ion facility in commission of a felony involving controlled substances and items prohibited by inmates.

Lafayette man charged with conspiring to sell

heroin

A Lafayette man was arrested on a felony warrant Wednesday charging him with conspiring to facilitate the sale and distributi­on of heroin in Floyd County in September 2019.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Kevin Timothy Mccullough, 47, is charged with felony conspiracy to violate the Georgia Controlled Substances Act, use of communicat­ion facility in commission of a felony and failure to appear.
