DAVIS, Martha Jean Hopper

Mrs. Martha Jean Hopper Davis, age 73, of Silver Creek, GA, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at a local hospital.

Mrs. Davis was born in Greenville, KY on November 8, 1948, daughter of the late Urey Alvin Hopper and the late Henrietta Jones Hopper. She attended school in Princeton, KY and shortly after graduating came to Rome to attend Berry College. She was a Dana Scholar and graduated in 1971. She was employed by Berry College for a few years and later was employed in the Floyd &RXQW\ 7D[ 2I¿FH IRU years until she and Wayne moved to Cincinnati, OH, where she was employed at Health Alliance, orchestrat­ing computer change over to accept Y2K at the main Cincinnati Hospital. Later she worked at the World Headquarte­rs of Proctor & Gamble Corporatio­n until her retirement in 2013. Mrs. Davis loved having a good time traveling in their RV, and square dancing with the Western Promenader­s, attending many conference­s and national convention­s. She took up quilting and made many quilts to give to friends and the Cancer Center. She was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her stepson, Mark Davis, and by 2 sisters, Delores Hopper and Beverly Cummins.

Survivors include her husband of 29 years, Wayne Davis; a daughter, Yvonne “Michelle” Davis Shanahan; a stepson, Michael Wayne Davis; 2 sisters, Linda Webb and Dennis Lewis, both of Princeton, KY; her grandchild­ren, Logan Shanahan, Anwyn Shanahan and Brandon Davis; nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 28, 2021, at 2pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel. The Rev. Dr. 6WDQOH\ 6PLWK ZLOO RI¿FLATE. Interment will follow in Rome Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Sunday from 1pm until time for the services.
