Mrs. Sarah Kerce Howe, 88, of Glen Ridge Road, died peacefully at home on Saturday, February 18, 2023, surrounded by family.

Sarah was born at home in Rome, GA on October 31, 1934, daughter of the late John Wesley Kerce and Clara Elizabeth Quarles. She was also preceded in death by her six brothers, Rev. John Cecil, Ralph Burton, James Nevin, Robert Edwin, Frank Quarles and Howard Early. Sarah graduated from Rome High School in 1952, was employed by Bellsouth for 34 years and was a beloved member of Rome First Church of the Nazarene. She was married to the late Ronald Lee Howe, who died in November 1996.

Sarah began her career at Bell Telephone in 1952 at age 17 as a phone operator and retired after 34 years as Deputy Bureau Chief. She then re-retired in 1996 after VHYHUDO \HDUV ZLWK &KLFN ¿O $ at Riverbend Mall and The Dwarf House.

Survivors include one son, Jonathan Howe of Roswell, GA; three stepchildr­en, Chuck Howe of Marietta, GA, Cathy Malone of Alma, IL, and Mark Howe of Salem, IL; many step grandchild­ren, step great grandchild­ren, nieces, and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6pm until 8pm on Friday, February 24, 2023, at Henderson and Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel.

Funeral services will be held at 11am on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at Henderson and Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, with WKH 5HY 5RQQ\ +LOWRQ Rɤciating and music by Frank Lykins. Interment will be in East View Cemetery directly following service.
