Berry College’s Campbell School of Business recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of its Master of Business Administration program.

After a celebration luncheon, guests and alumni toured Green Hall and viewed the Dr. Sam Spector MBA classroom, named for the founder of Berry’s MBA program. Spector earned his doctorate in business administration at Georgia State University and his doctorate in law at American University. During his nine years as a member of Berry’s business faculty, Spector attained the rank of full professor and served as department chair. He received Berry’s Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters in recognition of his accomplishments at Berry and his work in the Rome community.

“Over the coming years, we will continue Dr. Spector’s legacy by expanding the markets we serve to adapt the program to meet the needs of the next generation’s business leaders,” said Professor Lauren Heller, the interim dean for the Campbell School of Business. “As we look to that future, I have every confidence that the next 50 years will witness another dazzling display of graduates, each bringing new talents, skills, and perspectives to their communities.”

Over 70 people attended the event, including Spector’s family and John Pillsbury, one of the first students to graduate from the program.

Since the MBA program began in 1973, it has graduated over 600 students. As a part of the Campbell School of Business, the program is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. This is the highest accreditation a business school can achieve and is obtained by less than 6% of business schools worldwide.
