Habitat for Humanity Coosa Valley celebrates its 40th anniversary
Habitat Coosa Valley recently announced the launch of its 40th anniversary. Habitat will celebrate the organization’s commitment to transforming generations through homeownership all year long!
Established in 1984, the nonprofit affordable home builder will commemorate its legacy by recognizing homeowners, volunteers, partners and staff. Habitat Coosa Valley will also highlight how the organization goes beyond building homes to empower families and strengthen communities.
Habitat Coosa Valley completed its first home for the Wright family on Wright St. in North Rome. Forty years later, the organization has built a total of 60 new homes and helped hundreds more repair places to call home. “Habitat is in the business of building homes, communities and hope”, said Habitat Coosa Valley Executive Director Betsy Allgood, “this year-long celebration is our way of recognizing the hard working families whose lives we have changed along the way. Changing the trajectory for generations of families is the core part of the organization’s mission.
Habitat Coosa Valley also helps families continue to thrive after they move into their homes. Operating as an affordable home builder, financial institution and resource hub, the nonprofit maintains lasting relationships with homeowners to help them learn to care for their property, achieve financial independence and become active civic citizens. Habitat Coosa Valley is grounded in the belief that strong communities are built on a foundation of empowering families to own quality, affordable homes in safe, vibrant neighborhoods.
Throughout the year, there will be notable moments to honor homeowners, host special events, tell heartfelt stories, spotlight volunteers, thank partners and recognize past and present Habitat staff.
