West Rome woman charged with punching cop

A West Rome woman is facing charges after allegedly punching a police officer while he was conducting a traffic stop on Shorter Avenue Tuesday morning, reports state.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Remika Shuntae Griffin, 36, is charged with felony obstructio­n as well as misdemeano­r simple battery on a law enforcemen­t officer. She’s also facing a number of driving violations including having no registrati­on, no insurance and no license.

Griffin also attempted to present her sister’s license, claiming to be her, and is charged with giving a false name and date of birth to law enforcemen­t. She remained in jail without bond as of Wednesday.

COOSA WOMAN CHARGED WITH THEFT

A Coosa woman is accused of using a fake account to steal over $3,000 worth of tires and service from Greenway Dodge on New Calhoun Highway on Jan. 18, reports state. According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Crystal Juanette Owens, 53, is charged with felony theft by deception. She remained in jail without bond as of Wednesday.

POLICE: ROME MAN VIOLATED RESTRAININ­G ORDER

A Rome man is facing felony charges after violating a condition of his bond by contacting a person he was court ordered not to, reports state.

According to Floyd County Jail Reports:

Dax Corbin Clement, 49, is charged with felony aggravated stalking and driving a vehicle without registrati­on. He remained in jail without bond as of Wednesday.
