The Lady Wolves dominated possession and turned that into a pair of goals which was plenty to earn a shutout win at home in non-region play on Wednesday.

Rome (3-13) took 20 total shots with goals being converted by

Emily Cooper and Sophie Clowdus. Cooper and Annabel Chandler each had an assist as well.

Lady Wolves’ goalkeeper Jami Reyes recorded the shutout as she only had to make one save due to her team’s strong defensive play and possession in the victory.

Rome was on the road on Thursday at Sonoraville and will wrap up its season on April 13 when it hosts non-region foe Darlington at 5 p.m. at Barron Stadium.

The Blue Devils got a final non-region tune-up on their home field before their postseason begins in a few weeks in the Class AA State Tournament as they used a well-balanced effort to convincingly defeat local foe Pepperell on Tuesday.

Model (17-0-1) was led by Lakin Dancause who had four goals and two assists in the win. The other five goals were scored by five different players, including Luke Silver, Grayson Davis, Cameron Sanchez, Wyatt Patterson and Zeke Donner.

Donner and Patterson each had one assist apiece as well. Other Devils with an assist were Grady Smith, Eric Flores and Elijah Marshall.

Tanner Couey and Zane Nicholson combined for the shutout in goal as the Model defense didn’t force its goalkeepers to make many saves, controlling possession against Pepperell for most of the game.

Model will await its first-round opponent for the Class AA State Tournament, which it will host on April 19.

Pepperell finishes its season with a 4-11 record.
