Raises rejected for council, village president
Voters in the Village of Holly have turned down a charter amendment proposal to give raises to village leadership.
It was shot down with 56% of voters against and 43% in favor with 2,853 ballots cast. The village saw a mostly even split between absentee ballots and in person voters this election. A total of 1,384 were absentee voters while 1,469 people voted in person.
The charter amendment would have revised language about annual compensation for both the village council and village president. Both receive $900 a year for their work. The amendment would have raised that to $2,000 annually for members of the council beginning in November 2022 and to $2,500 annually for the village president starting this November.
