Cancellati­ons due to ongoing safety issues

The following activities are canceled due to ongoing safety issues with COVID-19 and to follow Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s new epidemic order to help curb the COVID-19 surge, effective today.

• Simple Recycling Services collection operations (orange bags used for recycling clothing and small household items) in the City of Farmington Hills will be suspended, effective Nov. 23, due to ongoing safety issues related to COVID-19, according to a press release. Simple Recycling hopes to resume operations in the spring. Garbage and curbside recycling cart collection continues as normal for Farmington Hills residents. Yard waste pickup takes place on normally scheduled days until pickup ends for the season during the week of Dec. 7-11. For more informatio­n, call the Division of Public Works at 248-871-2850.

• The City of Troy Recreation Department has canceled its fitness classes, badminton, pickleball, and basketball, and swim lessons and dance lessons.
