A HOLIDAY SEASON TO REMEMBER
Donate toys to local blood cancer patients this year
Each year, the Blood Cancer Foundation of Michigan provides presents to more than 500 young patients or children of adult patients.
The organization needs the community’s help to give those diagnosed with blood cancer a holiday season to remember. Now through Dec. 4, new and unwrapped toys or monetary donations may be mailed or dropped off to the Blood Cancer Foundation of Michigan at 27240 Haggerty Road, Suite E-15, Farmington Hills.
Many of the patients are unable to provide gifts for their families due to their fatigue and the cost of care in coping with leukemia, lymphoma or another blood related disease. This year, families need help more than ever as they face growing hardships resulting from COVID-19.
Faith Carver is one of Blood Cancer Foundation of Michigan’s patients who benefits from the annual holiday toys program. Carver was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma 14 years ago when she was nine months pregnant. Since then, the cancer has returned three times.
She said, “I appreciate the kindness the Blood Cancer Foundation of Michigan gives to people in need. They are friendly, open and go above and beyond to help. … It is incredibly comforting to know that I am not by myself in this. We can all lean on each other.”
