A 30- year- old Orion Township woman is hospitalized in critical condition after being brutally beaten, allegedly by her boyfriend who then fled with their 3-month- old baby.

Arrested for the Dec. 12 assault is Christian DePaul Roberson,

31, also of Orion Township. He’s held in the Oakland County Jail.

The victim suffered multiple broken facial bones, including orbital bones, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.

It was shortly before 7 p.m. when deputies responded to the 4700 block of Georgia Drive in Orion Township to conduct a welfare check after a caller reported that her neighbor was on her porch covered in blood and yelling for her baby, the sheriff’s office said. The sheriff’s office had also received a call from a man who gave his address and a woman’s name, but didn’t identify himself.

Deputies found the victim semi-conscious and covered in blood on the neighbor’s porch, the sheriff’s office said, who told them her boyfriend had assaulted her and driven away with their infant. Paramedics transported the woman to McLaren Oakland Hospital. She was later airlifted to University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor.

The infant was located unharmed at the home of Roberson’s mother.

A GoFundMe account is set up to help with the victim’s medical expenses. She’s expected to need extensive facial reconstructive surgery. Funds will also go to help cover expenses to care for her child. To donate, go to https://tinyurl.com/y9pol8hg. As of mid- afternoon Wednesday, $18,265 had been pledged toward a $25,000 goal.

Roberson was taken into custody Monday by the sheriff’s Fugitive Apprehension Team who located him in Pontiac. He had been posting on social media that he was remorseful and suicidal, soon after the attack, the sheriff’s office said.

Roberson is charged with one count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder or by strangulation, a 10-year felony.

At arraignment Dec. 15 in 52-3 District Court, bond was set at $300,000, no 10 percent. His next court date is Dec. 22.

Roberson has no prior criminal history.
