Downtown Berkley hosts MerriMonth events throughout December and January
The Berkley Downtown Development Authority is hosting its annual MerriMonth event celebrations now through January.
“With COVID-19, we know that our entire community needs some holiday cheer. So we’ve designed events that are both virtual and in-person,” said Jennifer Finney, Downtown Development Authority executive director.
“Our in-person events will be socially distant and safe to help support our beloved downtown businesses, and our fun and interactive virtual events will certainly get anyone into the holiday spirit. The main goal of this year’s MerriMonth is to encourage everyone to shop local to support our downtown Berkley businesses in a safe way.”
This year’s MerriMonth events include:
• Santa will virtually visit Berkley from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19 to read holiday stories to children via Zoom. Sign up at bit.ly/santa-storytime.
• From now through Jan. 18, walk the streets of Downtown Berkley to see all the winter wonderland themed window displays. Vote for favorites at bit.ly/merrimonth-vote.
• Through Dec. 31, donations are being collected for Gleaners Community Food Bank at Berkley Common, 3087 Twelve Mile Road; Sum Girls Boutique, 3015 Twelve Mile Road; Yellow Door, 3141 Twelve Mile Road; and the VITRINE Gallery, 2758 Coolidge Hwy.
• The Downtown Development Authority will be giving out $750 worth of Downtown Berkley Bucks to select shoppers. Shop in-person or online at shopyourmainstreet.com/oakland_county/berkley. Email a copy of the receipt to marketing@downtownberkley.com to be entered to win.
