Investigation continues into 3-year-old’s death

Michigan State Police detectives continue to investigate the death of a child that occurred Dec. 19 in Groveland Township. The child has been identified by MSP as a 3-year-old girl. Communicating via Twitter, MSP Metro Detroit stated on Monday afternoon the investigation “is in the early stages and a cause of death has not been confirmed.” MSP also asked for patience from the media and others interested in finding out what led to the death.

As posted on the Twitter account: “We realize that anytime that there is a death in the community, especially a child, rumors and gossip start working its way through both traditional and social media.” Media reports that the boyfriend of the child’s mother is in custody because of the death have not been confirmed.
