A 59- year- old West Bloomfield man was critically injured Tuesday night when he was hit by a vehicle while walking along Hagger ty Road in West Bloomfield Township, authorities said.

According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, the man was in the roadway near Crumb Road, just north of Maple Road, when he was struck by a 2019 Dodge Ram. The area has minimal lighting and the pedestrian was wearing dark clothes, the sheriff’s office said.

The driver of the Dodge Ram, a 44-year- old West Bloomfield woman, was not injured. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, the sheriff’s office said.

The injured man was transported by ambulance to Beaumont Hospital in Farmington Hills where he was listed in critical condition on Wednesday, the sheriff’s office said.

The incident is under investigation.
