DIA offers free family fun, virtually
Families can have some holiday weekend fun with the Detroit Institute of Arts without leaving home.
• The interactive “Wimee’s Words” uses Guest of Honor museum pieces by Frida Kahlo and Salvador Dali as a jumping- off point to talk about self-image at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 26, free via the DIA’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.
• The also interactive “ScreenPLAY,” meanwhile, runs at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 27 through Dec. 31, letting families become part of the story via Zoom, with a different narrative each day. All sessions are free, but registration is required via dia.org/events/screenplay-free-family-fun.
The DIA is open for in-person visitors, with limited attendance and COVID-19 protocols. Reservations are required.
