A 19-year-old Ann Arbor man has been charged in the killing of a South Lyon teenager on Dec. 30.

Fadi Jesus Zeineh turned himself into Ann Arbor Police on Jan. 1 accompanied by his attorney as South Lyon police were unable to immediately locate him following the shooting. On Monday, he was formally charged with first- degree felony murder in the shooting of Dylan Stamper, 17, a charge that, if convicted, carries a mandatory life sentence without parole.

Zeineh, who recently violated his probation on retail fraud charges out of Washtenaw County, was also charged with nine add i - tional felony counts, including five counts of possessing a firearm in the commission of a felony, all carrying 2-year sentences, and four counts of armed robbery, all carrying life sentences.

On Monday, he was arraigned on those charges in the 52-1 District Court in Novi with his bond being denied by Judge Travis Reeds “based on the severity of the allegations and charges.” He’s currently being held in the Oakland County Jail awaiting his next court date.

According to Chris Sovik, South Lyon police chief, evidence suggests that Zeineh knew Dylan Stamper and that the shooting was “not random.”

In court on Monday, Sgt. Sam Marzban, lead Oakland County Sheriff’s Office detective on the case, said evidence suggests that Zeineh went to the Stamp er home to buy marijuana from Dylan before turning a gun on him.

Kevin Stamper, 43, the victim’s father, remains in critical condition at a nearby hospital following the shooting. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help pay for funeral expenses, with more than $12,000 pledged.

Sovik said Zeineh is not talking to or cooperating with authorities, so police are seeking the public’s help in locating the second suspect, the suspected getaway driver. A $2,000 reward offered for information to find him for anonymous tips that lead to an arrest.

He said the department has not received any credible tips yet on the second suspect’s identify or potential whereabouts, but said his department has received “a lot of info” and that “we’re following up on rumors and hearsay.”

The South Lyon Police Department and Oakland County Sheriff’s Office are asking those with information about the second suspect to call Crime Stoppers at 1- 800- SPEAK-UP. Tipsters will remain anonymous.

“Both agencies are requesting any information regarding the individual that was with Fadi Zeineh and drove the 2011 Ford Escape (with a) Michigan license plate EFH6360 away from the home on 12/30/2020,” South Lyon police said in a release.

Zeineh’s next scheduled court date is a probable cause conference at 9 a.m. on Jan. 13. His examination has been scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 20, according to police.
