Waterford man shot multiple times by home intruders, suspects at-large

A Waterford Township resident is hospitaliz­ed in stable condition after walking in on a break-in at his home and being shot multiple times, police said.

Waterford Township police are asking the public to help identify the two suspects who reportedly forced their way into the man’s home in the 3000 block of Oak Knoll on April 8 at 9:45 p.m. Investigat­ors believe the home was specifical­ly targeted.

One suspect is described as a dark-skinned black male, 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall, thin build, in his late teens or early 20s, who was armed with a silver/black semi-automatic 9mm handgun. He was wearing a black sweatshirt with writing on the front. The other suspect is described as a white male, late teens or early 20s, who was wearing a black sweatshirt with a green logo and sweatpants with a stripe along both sides.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for tips that lead to an arrest.

According to Waterford Township police, the suspects were in the home after forcing open the front door when the homeowner walked in on them. The homeowner retreated out of the home and the black male suspect followed him, firing six shots. The homeowner was struck by three bullets. He fled to a neighbor’s home as the suspects fled in a grey Chrysler 300, with front and rear end damage, a broken driver’s side window and bullet holes in the driver’s side door.
