The state of Michigan distributed 26,130 doses of COVID-19 vaccine to Oakland County Health Division this week, including 2,340 Pfizer doses from FEMA.

That is substantially lower from a week ago when the country received 37,090 doses, also including 2,340 Pfizer doses from FEMA.

The Health Division will administer the FEMA doses, provided as part of the establishment of Ford Field as a regional vaccination site, in Pontiac and Waterford to residents who live in areas with a higher Social Vulnerability Index.

The breakdown by manufacturer, excluding the FEMA doses, is 3,900 total doses of Moderna including 1,100 second doses; and 18,720 doses from Pfizer including 11,700 second doses. No shipment is expected from Johnson & Johnson.

The FDA and CDC paused the use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine on Tuesday due to blood clots in six women who received the one-shot vaccine.

With the pause in the use

of the Johnson & Johnson one-shot COVID-19 vaccine, the Oakland County Health Division administration is reviewing scheduled Johnson & Johnson clinics to determine whether other vaccines may be provided at those clinics or whether rescheduling will be necessary.

The Health Division was able to use Pfizer vaccine instead of Johnson & Johnson at a student vaccination clinic at Oakland University on Tuesday.

The Health Division will conduct a dozen COVID-19 vaccine clinics — by appointment only — this week through Monday, April 19, in Holly, Novi, Pontiac, Rochester, Rochester Hills, Southfield, Waterford and West Bloomfield. In addition, the Health Division will conduct one clinic at a long-term care center while Ready Nursing Solutions focuses on vaccinating homebound individuals.

To date, 36 long-term care centers have received first and second doses of vaccine. The county also is redistributing vaccines to 23 providers this week.
