Notre Dame Prep softball cruises to two wins

Softball

NDP SWEEPS BLOOMFIELD HILLS

The Notre Dame Prep softball team picked up 19-6 and 19-0 wins over Bloomfield Hills on Monday.

In the opening game, Ani Wachowiak had a three-run home run to give the Irish a 7-6 lead that it wouldn’t lose. She also got the win in the circle. Elena Schwegman hit for the cycle and had a home run while driving in four. Meaghan Orloski added three doubles and four RBI.

In game two, the Irish won in three innings, putting up a pair of home runs as well. Jordan Smith had five RBI with three hits and a two-run home run. Orloski also homered while driving in four. Ryann Simmonds added two hits and three RBI. Wachowiak got another win in the circle, allowing just a walk with no hits.

BASEBALL

NOTRE DAME PREP 11, TROY 1

The Notre Dame Prep baseball team picked up a six-inning win over Troy on Monday, 11-1.

Ben Sermo had two hits and two RBI to lead the Irish at the plate, while Tommy Joppich had three hits and a RBI.

Luke Babich pitched a complete game for the Irish and struck out seven batters.

Game two was stopped in the sixth inning with Troy leading 3-1 and will be resumed on Wednesday.

LAKEVIEW 3, CLAWSON 1

Clawson was edged on the diamond by Lakeview on Monday, 3-1.

Zac Foster struck out four on the mound and also drove in the lone Clawson run. Colin Snyder and Alex Cordone each reached based twice.

Girls soccer

SEAHOLM 4, BERKLEY 2

The Birmingham Seaholm girls soccer team scored a 4-2 victory over Berkley on Monday night.

Ava David had a goal and two assists for the Maples while Macy Rothweil, Eva Grills and Elena Reyes each scored as well.

Sky Snyder made six saves for the Maples.

Girls tennis

LAKELAND 5, HOLLY 4

The Lakeland girls tennis team picked up a 5-4 victory over Holly on Monday evening.

At 3 doubles, seniors Claire Stevenson and Asha Chowanic won in a 3-set nail-biter that helped secure the win for the Eagles. Senior Zoe Cutting gave an impressive performanc­e at Court 4 singles winning in straight sets 6-0, 6-1.

CLAWSON 6, KETTERING 1

The Clawson tennis team picked up a 6-1 win over Waterford Kettering on Monday evening.

Singles winners for Clawson were No. 1 Layna Thompson, No. 2 Hannah Saunders, No. 3 Abby Holmes and No. 4 Ena Dokic.

Doubles winners were No. 1 Ava LaMotte and Natty Lertkasem, and No. 2 Olivia Bailey and Arnela Pobric.

Girls lacrosse

NORTH FARMINGTON 15, STONEY CREEK 15

The Stoney Creek girls lacrosse team suffered a 15-13 loss to North Farmington on Monday.

Sydney LaPrairie and Avary Sacdalan each scored six goals to lead the Cougars.
