Police seek tips in stabbing at Hookah Joe’s

-

Royal Oak police released surveillance pictures this week showing two possible suspects in an assault and stabbing at a hookah tobacco lounge.

The assault happened about 1 a.m March 13 at Hookah Joe, 734 S. Washington.

Royal Oak police Lt. Albert Carter said police have been investigating the stabbing and interviewed a large number of witnesses inside the business, but have yet to identify a suspect.

“We thought we’d put the pictures out to see if anyone recognizes the people involved,” he said.

A Detroit man sitting at a table was punched by a woman and stabbed in the stomach by a man she was with, police said. The incident happened after the woman had a run-in with the victim and other people seated at the table.

“The woman had bumped into the table and people sitting there told her to watch it,” Carter said.

Moments later, the woman returned to the table accompanied by two other women and the man suspected of stabbing the customer. The woman punched the seated man and the man pulled out a knife and stabbed the Detroit man once, police said.

Police said the suspects then fled the business and went to their vehicle, which was parked in a public lot to the north. The vehicle is described as a black fourdoor SUV.

Police said the man who was stabbed suffered a small cut. He was treated for the non- life-threatening injury and released the same day from Beaumont Hospital.

The man with the knife is described as about 5-foot-10, and wore black clothes and a black jacket with red-and-black writing on it.

Police said the woman had her hair up, and wore black pants and a white Detroit “Bad Boys” crew neck shirt.

Anyone with information is asked to call Lt. Carter at 248-246-3456.
