• ReLeaf Michigan, a statewide non-profit tree organization, in partnership with the City of Ferndale and the DTE Foundation is looking for volunteers to help plant 15 trees along Martin Road and Chestnut Street, 8:45 a.m.-noon, April 30 in celebration of Arbor Day. Volunteers are asked to sign up as a team of 3-4 people and bring a shovel and work gloves if available, and meet in the parking lot of Martin Road Park, 2400 Martin Road, Ferndale, rain or shine. • Fleece & Thank You, a nonprofit, is hosting Make A Blanket Week: Walled Lake/Novi presented by Kroger, through April

Volunteer opportunities
• Rebuilding Together Southeast Michigan seeks volunteers for National Rebuilding Day, April 24, to repair 10 homes in Farmington Hills, Southfield, and Huron Valley areas, revitalizing Heritage Park in Farmington Hills, register at sforce.co/2OvOHmq. The organization will also be distributing 100 safe and healthy home kits to Farmington Hills residents free, on a first-come first-serve basis. The safe and healthy home kit is a 5-gallon bucket containing a smoke detector, fire extinguisher, CO detector, first aid kit, damprid, window insulation kit, pest prevention, masks and brochures, rtsemi.org.
