Ascension Michigan opens vaccination clinic in Southfield
Warren-based Ascension Michigan has set up a free community vaccination clinic at the Southfield Pavilion.
Located on the city’s municipal complex at 26000 Evergreen Road, south of Interstate 696, the clinic is open to everyone age 16 and older.
Michael Wiemann, MD, president of Ascension Medical Group, said the need to vaccinate all Michigan residents is critically important with the state experiencing a COVID-19 surge.
“We expect to administer 3,500 first doses a week at the Ascension Michigan community vaccination clinic in Southfield as we do our part to help achieve community immunity,” he said in a news release.
Mayor Ken Siver added: “I am extremely pleased to partner with Ascension Michigan to bring a COVID-19 vaccination clinic to the City of Southfield. As the pandemic continues to affect people worldwide, having access to a safe and effective vaccine is critical to stopping the spread and keeping people healthy.”
The community vaccination clinic at the Southfield Pavilion will run through August.

Vaccinations must be scheduled in advance as walk-ins will not be accepted. Persons without an appointment will not be eligible for vaccination. Individuals who are 16-17 years of age must be accompanied by a parent and will need to make sure they select the Pfizer vaccine when setting up their appointment. Once an individual clicks on the self-scheduling link, if no open appointment slots are displayed, all appointments have been filled for the current schedule. Check back as more appointment schedules are added. In addition to vaccination centers, Ascension Michigan has been actively setting up vaccination
“pop up clinics” in communities across the state, including rural and underserved areas where social vulnerability is high.
Dr. Wiemann said getting people vaccinated is vital to build community immunity to the virus.
Ascension Medical Group is also seeking clinical and nonclinical volunteers to assist in a variety of roles at the vaccination site.
