A woman was arrested in Troy recently after she became sad and then agitated over a song playing at a business — and directed some of her anger at police who were called to the scene, authorities said.

According to the Troy Police Department, officers responded to a report of customer trouble at the Paradise Fruit Market on East Big Beaver Road at around 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 27.

The customer, age 45 from Sterling Heights, had left the business but contacted police to tell them she had moved her car to a street in Sterling Heights.

A police officer spoke with the woman, who was reportedly upset and explained that the trouble started when she heard a song playing at the market which made her sad so she asked employees to turn it off.

She said she was told it couldn’t be stopped which reportedly triggered her anger and she began yelling in the market, prompting an employee to call police.

The woman then got agitated with the officer she was speaking with, accused him of lying and drove away, police said.

As she made a U-turn, two officers positioned their patrol cars to block her in, and while she drove around the first officer’s car, the second officer repositioned his vehicle with the help of the first officer and the woman was arrested.

After she was processed at the Troy lock-up facility for hindering and obstructing a police officer, the woman walked into the police department and began to scream and yell at the front desk attendant, police said.

She wouldn’t calm down so she was arrested again and charged with disorderly conduct, police said.
