Police: Drunken driver arrested with drugs

-

A Royal Oak woman is accused of second-time drunken driving and illegal drug possession following her arrest Oct. 28.

Police patrol officers stopped the woman, 45, on Woodward Avenue after they spotted her swerving in her Jeep Compass.

She told police she was returning home from her job at a bar. Police said she smelled of alcohol and failed field sobriety tests.

A glass crack pipe fell from the woman’s pants pocket and broke, along with a baggie with some crack cocaine. She also had some prescription drug pills in her pocket, including phentermine, a controlled substance.

Officers also found a half-empty pint bottle of vodka beneath the passenger’s seat.

The woman has a previous drunken driving conviction on her record in Ohio.

Charges against the woman are pending the results of tests on the drugs police said she was carrying.
