Arrest made in Farmington shooting
Charges have been filed against a Farmington Hills man in connection with a shooting last week outside a Farmington residence. Matthew Miquel Jones, 40, was arrested Nov. 5 by Farmington Public Safety detectives and members of the Detroit Fugitive Apprehension Team. He’s charged with assault with intent to murder, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a felon, and is held in the Oakland County Jail with bond set at $1 million cash or surety. According to the Farmington Public Safety Department, the victim was critically injured in the Nov. 1 shooting. He called police at around 8:16 a.m. that day to report a tire on his pickup truck parked at 33230 Slocum Street was slashed, and he believed it had been done intentionally. Four minutes later, the victim called back and said he’d been shot. Officers found him lying near his truck and provided first-aid before he was transported by ambulance to an area hospital. Officials said earlier that it wasn’t a random shooting, and that the shooter reportedly fled the scene in a Ford Fusion that had heavily-tinted windows and no license plate. Jones’ next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 16, for a probable cause conference before 47th District Judge Marla Parker.
