Applications open for next 40-under-40 class
Program showcases county’s emerging leaders
A county program dedicated to showcasing emerging leaders in business, government and community agencies, Oakland Together 40 Under 40, is accepting applications for the 2023 term.
For more than a decade the county’s 40 Under 40 program has invited younger business leaders to the annual State of the County speech, the Oakland Together 40 under 40 Award celebration and other Oakland County events. Each year those accepted into the program join small-group meetings with County Executive
Dave Coulter.
“We are looking for young adults who through their work, ideas, and service embody what it means to be ‘Oakland Together,’” Coulter said. “These are people who pursue positive change in their workplaces and communities. They are the innovators, the dreamers and the entrepreneurs who will be the leaders of the future.”
He launched Oakland Together in 2020 to encourage collaboration and cooperation, especially among high achievers in professional, creative and service industries. The goal, he said, is to use the communities collective and individual strengths to take on challenges before they turn into problems.
“We can lead and innovate. We can be fiscally responsible with the taxpayer’s money and forward thinking,” he said, calling the effort a way for public servants to work for the public good, with residents, businesses and others in the region.
The 40 finalists will be featured on the Oakland Together 40 Under 40 website..
Candidates must live or work in Oakland County, be 18 or older, and have been born after Dec. 31, 1982. Applications close at 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, 2022. For more information or to apply, go to www. oakgov.com/40under40.
