• “Strange World” (PG): Walt Disney Animation Studios’ adventure about a family of explorers, the Clades, as they attempt to navigate an uncharted, treacherous land alongside a motley crew that includes a mischievous blob, a three-legged dog and a slew of ravenous creatures. The voice cast includes Jake Gyllenhaal, Dennis Quaid and Jaboukie Young-White and Lucy Liu. In theaters, Nov. 23.
• “Bones and All” (R): Based on the novel of the same name by Camille DeAngelis, the film stars Taylor Russell and Timothée Chalamet as two cannibalistic lovers who embark on a road trip across 1980’s America. In theaters, Nov. 23.
• “Devotion” (PG-13): Based on the true story of Jesse Brown, the first Black aviator in U.S. Naval history, and his friendship with fellow fighter pilot Tom Hudner. They helped to turn the tide in the most brutal battle in the Korean War, making them the Navy’s most celebrated wingmen. Starring Glen Powell, Jonathan Majors, Daren Kagasoff and Joe Jonas. • “The Fabelmans” (PG-13):
A semi-autobiography based on Steven Spielberg’s own childhood growing up in Arizona, from age 7 to 18. Starring Michelle Williams, Paul Dano, Seth Rogen, Gabriel LaBelle. Directed by Steven Spielberg. In theaters, Nov. 23.
• “She Said” (R): Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan star as New York Times journalists Megan Twohey and Jodi Kantor, who together broke the story exposing sexual abuse allegations against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, the story that helped launch the #Metoo movement. Directed by Maria Schrader.
• “The Menu” (R): A couple (Anya Taylor-Joy and Nicholas Hoult) travels to a coastal island to eat at an exclusive restaurant where the chef (Ralph Fiennes) has prepared a lavish menu, with some shocking surprises.
• “Spirited” (PG-13): A musical version of Charles Dickens’ story. Each Christmas Eve, the Ghost of Christmas Present (Will Ferrell) selects one dark soul to be reformed by a visit from three spirits. But this season, he picked the wrong Scrooge and Clint Briggs (Ryan Reynolds) turns the tables on his ghostly host. Available in select theaters and streaming on Apple TV+. • “Black Panther- Wakanda Forever” (PG-13): Marvel Studios’ new superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Black Panther with the Wakandans fighting to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. Starring Angela Bassett, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke and Danai Gurira. • “Tad, the Lost Explorer and the Emerald Tablet” (PG): New film in the Tad series, where
Tad accidentally unleashes a curse that endangers the lives of his friends, and then sets out to save them. Animated, with voices of Luis Posada, Alexandra Jiménez, Michelle Jenner and José Corbacho.
• “Armageddon Time” (R): A coming-of-age story about the strength of family and the generational pursuit of the American Dream. Starring Anthony Hopkins, Jeremy Strong, Anne Hathaway and Michael Banks Repeta. • “The Banshees of Inisherin” (R): Set on a remote island off the coast of Ireland, two lifelong friends find themselves at an impasse when one abruptly ends their relationship. Starring Colin Farrell, Barry Keoghan, Kerry Condon and Brendan Gleeson.
• “One Piece Film-Red” (PG13): Anime film about Uta, a beloved singer who is renowned for concealing her own identity when performing.
• “Prey for the Devil” (PG): Horror film about the Roman Catholic Church combatting a global rise in demonic possessions by reopening schools to train priests to perform exorcisms. Although nuns are forbidden to perform this ritual, a professor trains Sister Ann (Jacqueline Byers) who finds herself in a battle for the soul of a young girl who’s possessed by the same demon that tormented her own mother years earlier. Also starring Colin Salmon and Christian Navarro.
• “Till” (PG-13): The true story of Mamie Till-Mobley, an American educator and activist who pursued justice after the lynching of her 14-year-old son, Emmett Till, in 1955. Starring Danielle Deadwyler, Jalyn Hall, Frankie Faison, Haley Bennett and Whoopi Goldberg. • “Ticket to Paradise” (PG13): George Clooney and Julia Roberts star as a divorced couple who team up and travel to Bali to stop their lovestruck daughter from making the same mistake they made 25 years ago.
• “Black Adam” (PG-13): In ancient Kahndaq, Teth Adam was bestowed with the powers of the gods, and then imprisoned, becoming Black Adam. Nearly 5,000years have passed, and he is now free, ready to unleash his form of justice on the modern world. Starring Dwayne Johnson, Sarah Shahi, Noah Centineo and Pierce Brosnan.
• “Lyle Lyle Crocodile” (PG):
When a family moves to New York City, their young son Josh struggles to adapt to his new school and friends. But that changes when he discovers
Lyle, a singing crocodile (voice of Shawn Mendes) and the two become friends. Starring Javier Bardem, Constance Wu, Winslow Fegley.
• “Smile” (R): After witnessing a bizarre, traumatic incident involving a patient, Dr. Rose Cotter (Sosie Bacon) starts experiencing frightening occurrences. Also starring Jessie T. Usher and Kyle Gallner with Rob Morgan.
STREAMING MOVIES • “Disenchanted” (PG): New live-action musical comedy, sequel to Disney’s “Enchanted” featuring the original cast from the heart-warming story of the maiden from the fairy tale world of Andalasia who finally found her Prince Charming in the kingdom of New York City. Starring Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey and Maya Rudolph. Available on Disney+.
• “Slumberland” (PG):
live-action adaptation of the comic strip series Little Nemo in Slumberland. The film is about a dreamworld where Nemo (Marlow Barkley) and her eccentric companion Flip (Jason Momoa) embark on the adventure of a lifetime. Also starring Kyle Chandler and Chris O’Dowd. Available on Netflix..
• “Don’t Worry Darling” (R):
Psychological thriller about an experimental company town housing the men who work for the top-secret Victory Project and their families. Every resident’s needs are met by the company, but cracks in their idyllic life begin to appear, exposing something sinister beneath the surface. Starring Florence Pugh, Harry Styles, Olivia Wilde, Gemma Chan, KiKi Layne and Chris Pine.
• “Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me” (R): Documentary about pop star Selena Gomez who opens up about her struggle with mental illness. Directed by Alek Keshishian. Available on Apple TV+.
• “Tár“(R): Set in the international world of classical music, the film centers on Lydia Tár, widely considered one of the greatest living composer/conductors and first-ever female chief conductor of a major German orchestra. Starring
Cate Blanchett, Nina Hoss and Noémie Merlant.
• “Terrifier 2“(R): Sequel slasher film about Art the Clown who returns to Miles County to terrorize a teenage girl and her younger brother on Halloween night. Starring David Howard Thornton, Samantha Scaffidi, Lauren LaVera and Griffin Santopietro.
• “Halloween Ends” (R): After 45years of the Halloween horror franchise, Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) faces off against Michael Myers in a final confrontation in which only one of them will survive. Also starring Andi Matichak, James Jude Courtney, Will Patton, Rohan Campbell and Kyle Richards. Also streaming on Peacock.
• “Amsterdam“(R): A crime epic about three close friends who find themselves at the center of one of the most shocking secret plots in American history. Starring Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, John David Washington, Alessandro Nivola, Chris Rock, Taylor Swift, with Rami Malek and Robert De Niro.
• “The Woman King” (PG-13):
A historical drama about the Agojie, the all-female warrior unit who protected the West African kingdom of Dahomey in the 1800s. Starring Viola Davis, Hero Fiennes Tiffin, Lashana Lynch and John Boyega.
• “Causeway” (R): A soldier who experienced a traumatic brain injury during her tour in Afghanistan struggles to adjust to her life after returning home to New Orleans. Starring Jennifer Lawrence and Brian Tyree Henry. Available on Apple TV+.
• “Enola Holmes 2” (PG-13):
Second film in the series based on “The Enola Holmes Mysteries” novels, where Enola Holmes (Millie Bobby Brown) follows in the footsteps of her famous brother, Sherlock (Henry Cavill). Available on Netflix. • “The Minute You Wake Up Dead” (R): After a shady smalltown stockbroker begins dating a shy waitress, a shocking murder happens. Starring Cole Hauser, Jaimie Alexander and Morgan Freeman. Available streaming. • “All Quiet on the Western Front” (R): A film about a young German soldier and his comrades on the Western Front of World War I as they experience how the initial euphoria of war turns into desperation and fear as they fight for their lives, and each other. Based on the bestseller of the same name. Starring Daniel Brühl, Albrecht Schuch and Sebastian Hülk. Available on Netflix.
• “The Good Nurse” (R): Amy, a nurse and single mother is struggling with a life-threatening heart condition and the demanding night shifts at the ICU. When Charlie, a thoughtful and empathetic fellow nurse, starts at her unit, the two become friends. But then a series of mysterious patient deaths sets off an investigation that points to Charlie.
