Parolee accused of kidnapping, raping, torturing 9-year-old child gets new trial date

- By Aileen Wingblad

Two and a half years have passed since the reported kidnapping, rape and torture of a 9-year-old girl in Farmington Hills — allegedly by an Oak Park man who’d been released from prison months earlier for a similar crime.

Trial has been scheduled and postponed a few times for the accused attacker, Aaron Deneal McDonald, and is now back on the books for Sept. 23, with Oakland County Circuit Judge Jeffery Matis presiding.

McDonald, 43, is charged with kidnapping, criminal sexual conduct, torture and assault with intent to do great bodily harm including strangulation, and is held in the Oakland County Jail, denied bond. He was on parole at the time of the alleged Oct. 10, 2021.

Investigators claim McDonald lured a 9-year-old girl into a vehicle, held her against her will and took her to a house in Detroit where she was sexually assaulted. Several hours after the abduction, the girl reportedly managed to escape to a nearby house and police were contacted.

McDonald was convicted in 2004 of first-degree criminal sexual conduct involving use of a weapon and sentenced to 15 to 30 years in prison. He was released from prison in May 2021 after serving 16 and a half years.

According to police, the child victim was abducted after leaving her home near Eight Mile and Middlebelt roads in Farmington Hills at around 4 p.m. It’s alleged that McDonald took her to a residence near Eight Mile and Berg roads in Detroit, sexually assaulted her and confined her. She escaped at around 7:30 p.m.

After McDonald was arrested, Farmington Hills Police Chief Jeff King called it a “horrific crime” that involved a “brutal abduction and sexual attack” of a child.
