Making Waves Celebrating Southwest Floridians
Deborah Chase might be based at the Norris Home Furnishings showroom in Fort Myers, but you can find her offering interior- design advice all over our region, whether at the company’s Sanibel and Naples locations, during speaking engagements at residential communities and real- estate events, or while making visits to clients’ homes.
“People are often apprehensive at first that their tastes might be criticized,” says Chase, a resident of Pine Island. “It’s fun to see the feeling go away. I try not to recommend trends; I try to help customers recognize what they love and gravitate toward it.”
Chase worked for Norris from the company’s inception, then ran her own firm in Naples for twelve years. The West Virginia native rejoined the company in 2010. Her work fulfills a childhood yearning that began while visiting her grandmother in Naples. “My sister wanted to go to the beach, my brother to a jungle park, and I wanted to go to furniture stores or model homes!” she recalls.
“It feels great knowing I’m changing people’s lives,” she says. “They are around the choices they make for many years.”

A PLUM JOB
Since becoming co- owner of Posh Plum furniture- consignment business in the fall of 2011, Greg Hunt has been combining business- expansion efforts with a spirit of community giving. He quickly began making regular furniture donations from the company’s Bonita Springs location to the nearby St. Matthew’s House and Our Lady of Light thrift shops. “We enjoy helping the community,” he says.
In mid- 2012, he opened a second Posh Plum store in Naples. Now the Bonita location offers “more casual, beach- and cottage- look pieces,” while the Naples store stocks “more traditional, contemporary, and larger furniture,” he says.
New York native Hunt started his career at Macy’s flagship Herald Square store, then managed one of the department store’s locations on Long Island. In Southwest Florida, he’s served as a general manager at both Ralph Lauren and Robb & Stucky. “It all comes together now,” he says. “Customer service, keeping up with trends, marketing, working with a great staff— it’s never boring. Going back and forth between the two stores and our warehouse meeting buyers and sellers keeps me busy.”
