What’s the biggest business regret you have?

Not being my own CEO from day one and letting anyone buy into my business. I let people buy into it and now I’ve bought them all out. I cannot stand that whole thing, not really owning your name. I will never give anyone the keys to my car again.

How does it feel when someone like yourself, who has worked with so many celebrities, actually becomes a celebrity herself?

I don’t feel like a celebrity. I like to just do what I do. But it was funny, Chris and I just went to Charleston, and I got stopped multiple times, just crossing the street or going to a restaurant. We were sitting at dinner and someone came over to take a picture with me. Chris said, ‘I forgot that people know you.’ And I was like, ‘So did I.’

Do you have a secret to balancing it all?

I recently just learned it actually, and it’s from the movie Frozen ll. It’s ‘do the next right thing.’ That’s what you do. If the next right thing is to pick up your kid from school, then do it. If the next right thing is to meet an email deadline for somebody that is waiting for you, then do it. If the next right thing is to make the content for that project tomorrow, it’s what you do.

What are some of your vices?

Oh, wine. I love wine. I love a glass of crispy Ott Rosé; it’s my favorite rosé. I don’t ever get drunk. I have a glass or two. I’m very good at knowing when I’m done.

If there’s one thing you could tell people who want to start their own business, what would you advise?

I have the longest list for you! Don’t start your own business to make a bunch of money. Don’t start it for your ego. Don’t start it to become famous. Don’t have employees if you’re not going to take being an employer seriously.

You’ll be back in your Hamptons Studios this summer. What’s the latest news for your TAM members and fans?

We’re introducing my latest machine, The Anderson Moto Air Pro Reformer. I’ve always loved Pilates and I’ve innovated off of Joe Pilates’ reformer, but instead of springs it’s all done with air resistance. It’s so much fun to use!
