SPLICING SUGGESTION

SAIL - - Feedback -

I really appreciated the February issue Boatworks Sketchbook focus on “Snagging Sheets” as this seems to be a perpetual problem when coming about on my Catalina 25. As I have separate port and starboard sheets, I will try one of the solutions suggested. However, if a single continuous line were used for both sheets, a Brummel splice in the center of the line might be another consideration. The splice is compact with no protruding knots and either a soft or hard shackle could be used for attachment to the sail. I’ve never tried to make such a splice but it seems simple and straightforward.

Thank you for your great suggestions on boat rigging and performance.
