Panama Posse Enters Second Year
The Panama Posse is back this month after a successful inaugural rally in 2017-2018. This year it includes visits to seven Central American countries—Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Honduras, Costa Rica and Panama.
Over the course of the rally, organizers provide cruisers with a daily SSB communications net, vessel tracking, over 200 verified safe anchorages, slip discounts and plenty of “Posse” parties. According to Chris and Amanda, whose Kelly Peterson 44, Sea Glass, was part of last year’s event, “Participating in the Panama Posse was like being part of a family and less like a typical rally. We met some of the most wonderful people with whom we will be lifelong friends.”
This year’s rally starts off about 150 miles south of Puerto Vallarta at Marina Puerto de la Navidad and ends at the Marina Vista Mar near the Panama Canal. Kicking things off will be a launch party and a week of educational seminars to help cruisers prepare for the trip ahead. Topics will include navigation, routes, safety and provisioning.
