Teaching anglers how to catch more and bigger saltwater game fish for 32 years

America’s most popular and longest-running educational seminar series on saltwater fishing enters its 32nd year in 2019. Opening in Wilmington, North Carolina, on January 5, and concluding in Port St. Lucie, Florida, on March 2, the tour visits Mobile, Alabama (January 12); Islamorada, Florida Keys (January 19); Providence, Rhode Island (January 26); Tampa, Florida (February 2); Atlantic City, New Jersey (February 9); and Anne Arundel County, Maryland (February 23).

What It’s All About

George Poveromo, host of George Poveromo’s World of Saltwater Fishing on NBC Sports and contributing editor for Salt Water Sportsman magazine, will headline the 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. seminars. He’ll be joined at each location by teams of top national and regional pros. Their objective: Cover in explicit detail the how-tos and where-tos of catching the most popular saltwater game fish — inshore, nearshore and offshore — within the respective seminar regions. The seminars are held on Saturdays at performing arts theaters and grand ballrooms. The faculty teams are flanked on stage by two large screens, which broadcast images and video bites that help reinforce key points.

Utilizing the team-teaching concept, four faculty members simultaneously cover a topic. The audience is privy to an entertaining and highly informative discussion on how these pros catch their specialty fish.

“The ensuing shortcuts to success dispatched on stage have been unmatched going on 32 years,” Poveromo says. “The fact that the National Seminar Series has continued to pack auditoriums for over three decades now is the best endorsement to its caliber and content. The amount of fishing information revealed by our faculty teams is consistently remarkable.”

Big Names Equal Big Results

Some of the nationally recognized pros joining up with Poveromo in 2019 include “Crazy” Alberto Knie, Harry Vernon III, Debbie Hanson, Tom Richardson, Dee Kaminski, Mike Goodwine, Alan Wenzel, David Wicker, Mark Schmidt, Nick Stanczyk and Dr. Mitchell Roffer. Teams of top local pros will also be at each seminar city, discussing their most productive techniques as well as relating all this information to their regional waters. In all, each seminar city showcases a minimum of 12 faculty members. A complete roster of faculty members can be found at nationalseminarseries.com.

Peanuts to Attend

A ticket to the seminar costs just $55, and each attendee receives a oneyear subscription or extension to Salt Water Sportsman, one Roffer’s Fishing Forecast Analysis, a course textbook, $10 Bass Pro Shops discount card on any purchase of $75 or more, and one bottle each of Orpine Wash & Wax, Star Tron fuel additive and Corrosion Block, and Star brite Xtreme Clean.

Door Prizes Galore

A Seminar Series trademark, thousands of dollars worth of door prizes are awarded at each stop on the 2019 tour. Giveways include gear from Penn reels, JL Audio marine sound systems, Bass Pro Shops, Rapala, Williamson and Storm lures, Columbia Sportswear, King Sailfish Mounts, Yeti, Costa Sunglasses, Papa’s Pilar Rum, Hydro Glow fishing lights, and many more.

Florida Keys Trips and Grand-prize Boat

At the conclusion of each seminar stop, attendees have a chance to win a Florida Keys fishing trip. And shortly after the conclusion of the final stop on the 2019 tour, the names of all attendees will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win the Super Grand Prize: a Mako 17 Pro Skiff Center Console. Last year’s Super Grand Prize winner was Alejandro Miranda-sousa, who attended the 2018 seminar in Fort Myers, Florida.

Party Time

As if the all-day seminar isn’t enough, attendees and a guest are invited to the After Seminar Party from 5 to 8 p.m. at the local Bass Pro Shops, to meet and socialize with George Poveromo and faculty members while enjoying complimentary finger food, beverages and music. All stops but Wilmington, North Carolina, and Providence, Rhode Island, (there is not a Bass Pro Shops or Cabela’s at either location) have an After Seminar Party scheduled.
