Salt Water Sportsman National Seminar Series Returns to the Road

- by SWS staff

“The amount of valuable fishing info delivered to the audience is nothing short of amazing.” —George Poveromo

The nation’s longest-running and most popular educational course on recreational marine angling tactics returns to the road in 2024. This will mark the 37th annual run for the Salt Water Sportsman National Seminar Series, with years 2021, ’22 and ’23 being televised events due to COVID-19. George Poveromo, renowned saltwater angler, television host and contributor for Salt Water Sportsman, will host all eight stops on the ’24 tour, presented by Bass Pro Shops and Mako Boats.

BEST OF THE BEST

Joining Poveromo at each location will be faculty teams comprised of national, regional and local angling authorities. Noted headliners include Nick Honachefsky, Harry Vernon III, Jot Owens, Mike Goodwine, Debbie Hanson, “Crazy” Alberto Knie, Alan Wenzel and Matt Upton, and local pros including Dr. John Stieglitz, Nick Fischer, Shane Toole, Adam Peeples, Gabrielle Barnes, John Mallette, Mark Schmidt, Jimmy Gagliardini, Abie Raymond, Liane Lopez, Jim Willcox, Tom Daffin, Mike Villanova, Kyle Chudzinski, Dan Kipnis, George Gozdz, Allison Stattner, Paul Sperco, Cory Crochetiere, Paul Godbout, Paul Dixon and many others.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Utilizing the team-teaching concept, four pros will take the stage simultaneously to discuss the most productive tactics, conditions and subtleties for catching more and larger fish within their respective regional and local waters. This includes inshore, nearshore and offshore saltwater fishing. Each session runs about 30 minutes in length.

To help illustrate each seminar, visuals and video “bytes” showing the tactics, techniques and conditions instrumental in targeting the respective species will beam from twin 8-by-10-foot onstage screens. “The number of visuals for each session is remarkable,” George Poveromo says. “Given this entertaining and exciting support feature, the key points our faculty teams are dispensing up on stage become that much easier

to see and comprehend. The amount of cutting-edge fishing information delivered to the audience is nothing short of amazing. The best endorsement of the Seminar Series is that it has been packing major halls and auditoriums going on 37 years now.”

SEMINAR SATURDAYS AND AFTER SEMINAR PARTIES

Seminars are held on Saturdays, beginning at 9 a.m. and concluding at 3 p.m. A one-hour break is scheduled at noon. In addition to the seminars, attendees are invited to attend the After Seminar Parties from 5 to 7 p.m. at the nearby Bass Pro Shops. A section of the store will be set aside for the party, where attendees can also meet and talk with Poveromo and faculty teams. There will be complimentary finger foods, soft beverages and entertainment. All venues, with the exception of the seminar in Wilmington, North Carolina, will have an After Seminar Party. There’s no Bass Pro Shops in Wilmington, but Wilmington attendees are invited to attend the After Seminar Party at the conclusion of the show in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

PRICE OF ADMISSION

A ticket for the seminar is $65 and includes five hours of angling instruction, a course textbook, a one-year subscription or extension to Salt Water Sportsman magazine, a ROFFS ocean fishing forecast analysis, a Star brite angler bucket, a bottle of Star Tron, a bottle of Star brite boat wash, a $10 Bass Pro Shops discount card on a purchase of $75 or more, a bottle of Orpine Wash & Wax, and plenty of chances to win thousands of dollars’ worth of door prizes.

The grand prize at each location (via a drawing) is a one-day Florida Keys fishing trip with a noted Florida Keys guide. At the conclusion of the eighth and final seminar on the 2024 tour, the names of all attendees will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win the Super Grand Prize: a Mako Pro Skiff 17.
