CONGRATULATIONS, TMI CLASS OF 2018

-

The 76 seniors of TMI Episcopal are ready to start the next chapter in their lives as they now join the ranks of 124 years of alumni, “who have been formed in our community and sent forth with courage and con@dence to continue lifelong learning and servant leadership,” said The Rev. Scott J. Brown, Headmaster.

The strong bond that the Class of 2018 will carry with them exempli@es the school theme for the year that, “we belong to each other.” The students’ support of one another, coupled with the dedicated faculty and staff who have watched over, challenged, and guided them in their high school journey, has given them the con@dence and skills they’ll need going forward.

With 100% college acceptance, this fall the TMI Class of 2018 will attend two Ivy League schools, 30 Texas colleges, 37 colleges across the U.S., two military academies and institutes, three international schools, and two Gap-year programs focused on global citizenship and outreach.

“In addition to being a collegepreparatory school, I would argue that TMI is also a life-preparatory school. TMI is full of amazing, wonderful teachers and students, all of whom supported and loved me since the beginning,” said Jacob Saenger, a graduate of the Class of 2018. “This allowed me to not only believe that I could do anything, but to know it to be true. I am who I am because of TMI, no question about it.

Thanks to TMI, I feel like I’m ready for the big, bad world. It may be a jungle out there, but TMI gave me a torch, a map, and a machete.”

The successes of this graduating class, said Dr. Matthew Blake ‘85, TMI Head of Upper School, “is a tribute to their talents and determined hard work. However, it is also a testimony to the support and guidance of their families, our outstanding teachers who challenge and encourage our students every day to reach their `highest potential, and our community that holds up every student from day one.”

The deep-rooted sense of community that gives every student the opportunity to serve, lead, and grow begins in middle school when senior students accept the charge to mentor every 6th grade student as they begin their own TMI journey.

Students continue their support of one another throughout their time at TMI by participating in peer-to-peer activities and in the extracurricular activities and programs offered at the school. From athletics and the Corps of Cadets to robotics and @ne arts, by the time graduation arrives, seniors’ resumes are @lled with diverse scholastic and extracurricular achievements that portray their wellrounded involvement that is the hallmark of TMI students.

“The Class of 2018 leaves TMI well prepared; not just for success in college, but for productive lives of servant leadership,” said Dr. Blake. To the Class of 2018, “Come home often, share your successes with us, and remember that we belong to each other, even more now as you go forth and change the world around you!” The Rev. Scott J. Brown.
