Spain’s king and queen arrive in S.A.

The king and queen of Spain arrived safely at San Antonio Internatio­nal Airport on Saturday afternoon and were greeted by city, county and civic leaders.

“Looking forward to renewing our familial ties with Spain, and commemorat­ing our city’s 300th birthday,” read a post on Mayor Ron Nirenberg’s Facebook page.

King Felipe VI, 50, and

Queen Letizia, 45, have a busy two days scheduled for their first visit to San Antonio. They will inaugurate two major art exhibits and tour historic sites, among other activities.

County Judge Nelson Wolff and Ramiro Cavazos, president and CEO of the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, joined Nirenberg in welcoming the royals.

The public can catch a glimpse of the couple today outside the Spanish Governor’s Palace downtown just before 9:30 a.m. and then again just before 11:45 a.m. in Main Plaza by the Bexar County Courthouse.
