VIA’s changes include a new route

- By Bruce Selcraig STAFF WRITER bselcraig@express-news.net

Beginning Monday, VIA Metropolitan Transit will start a new Primo route along the Zarzamora Street corridor, increase bus frequency on popular routes and reduce wait times on others.

The new 103 Primo route will connect Crossroads Park & Ride to Madla Transit Center along Fredericksburg and Zarzamora.

Riders on the now-discontinued route (520) who want to continue south of the Madla Transit Center can use the new 672 TAMUSA/Madla Transit Center route. Those going to the South Texas Medical Center can use the extended Route 95 Freder- icksburg Road bus or the 100 Primo Fredericksburg Road bus.

The 95 Fredericksburg bus now takes riders to the Medical Center. Plus, its hours have been extended to 10 p.m.

The 672 TAMUSA/Madla Transit Center bus will connect the transit center to Palo Alto Community College, Texas A&M University-San Antonio and Southwest General Hospital.

The 42 Roosevelt bus has been modified to provide service to the TJ Maxx Distribution Center during weekday shift changes. The former 101 Primo UTSA/Leon Valley bus will change its name to 501 UTSA/Leon Valley, with additional stops.

Several routes will be more fre- quent. Routes 9, 10, 43 and 44 will be improved to operate every 20 minutes from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays. Routes 82 and 88 will arrive every 15 minutes.

Several new route pairs will go into effect: 10-51, 14-44, 22-79, 46-70 and 82-95. The re-pairing will change routing through downtown and create minor schedule changes, according to VIA.

New pocket schedules are available at VIAinfo.net. The VIA mobile app — goMobile — is free and available on Apple and Android smartphones.
