It’s not all doom

Re: “More cases as state adds to reopenings,” Metro, Tuesday:

This headline highlighting more COVID-19 cases resulting from more reopenings is disingenuous. Yes, there were more cases, but is that because more people are being tested? Furthermore, how can anyone reason the increase was due primarily to the reopenings of businesses?

To every skeptic, I defy you to read the entire article. It includes far more calming details than the dismal, dark, doomand-gloom headline.

We are moving in a positive direction toward vanquishing the pandemic scourge. The headline, however, accentuates fear and shock. It’s as if the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are now fast rushing toward our doorsteps. Let’s think positive!

He obviously chose not to watch, or simply ignored, Dr. Anthony Fauci’s dire warning before the U.S. Senate about the dangers of reopening the economy too quickly. In case Nixon missed it, Fauci warned, “There is a real risk that you will trigger an outbreak that you may not be able to control, which in fact, paradoxically, will set you back, not only leading to some suffering and death that could be avoided but could even set you back on the road to try to get economic recovery.”
