Vaccine before school

The new school year will be starting in a few months and as parents of a daughter, we understand and cherish the value of a good education. The pandemic we are experienci­ng has caused us great apprehensi­on.

Public health experts have predicted more than 100,000 COVID-19 deaths in the United States by the end of the month, and all we hear from the current administra­tion are empty promises. Promises that a vaccine will be developed by the end of the year, anybody that needs a test can get a test, or that the virus will just disappear.

Among all this talk, we have yet to hear a coherent plan by local school districts that will ensure the safety of all schoolchil­dren. Presently, all schoolchil­dren are required, with some exceptions, to be vaccinated against measles, mumps, rubella, chickenpox and whooping cough, yet parents are expected to send their children to
