Jaws-dropping prose

Re: “Just when you thought it was safe to request a mail-in ballot,” by Maria Anglin, Other Views, May 31:

Bases are loaded and Maria Anglin’s at bat. Unlike Casey, Anglin hits it out of the park! Hands down, the best column she’s written in years. I know I’ll never watch “Jaws” the same way again. Trying to find the best line was tough, but I think I’ll have to pick “we’re going to need a bigger vote.”

It’s truly sad the Republican platform is so unpopular that even they know that to win elections they must suppress the vote. Wade into the maelstrom and cast your vote. Hang the consequences. Remember, you’re a warrior for Trump.

Cue up the music to “Jaws” when you go to cast your vote in Texas. That two-note used to belong to John Williams, but now it’s called the “Republican Overture.”

Terrific column, Ms. Anglin, and a giant hat tip. most U.S. draftees. Right or wrong, they were told to fight for their country, and they died doing so.

What comes next? The exhumation of their bodies and dumping them somewhere so no one knows where they are? Let them lie in peace and let their headstones be a reminder of what could have been had it not been for our “greatest generation,” many of whom lie in peace in foreign cemeteries or unknown graves, including possibly in Germany.

The VA has much more important things to do than removing headstones; better treatment of current warriors from recent conflicts comes to mind.
