St. Mark’s hosts online concert

A recital recorded at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church will be shared online at 7 p.m. today.

Jacquelyn Matava and Samuel Gaskin will present “Travel, or Lack Thereof: A Quarantine­d Recital.” The recital, presented by the St. Cecilia Guild at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, is part of the Music from St. Mark’s 2019-2020 Concert Series.

The virtual recital consists of songs by Franz Schubert, Xavier Montsalvat­ge, Alberto Ginastera, Joaquin Rodrigo, Francis Poulenc and Michael Head, each exploring some aspect of travel around the globe.

The St. Cecilia Guild promotes sacred music, bringing guest musicians into the church and underwriti­ng special musical events. The guild is in its 28th year.

5-minute inspiratio­nal messages, air every Tuesday and Thursday on the center’s website, Youtube channel, and Facebook page (search for Pilgrim Center of Hope).

The center recently launched a new series of virtual video reflection­s every Saturday called “Meet Mary.”

The 3- to 5-minute messages about the life of Mary, the Mother of Jesus, and how her example can guide us during this time of challenge and crisis, air on the center’s YouTube channel and Facebook page.

“Meet Mary” will replace the Saturday editions of the ongoing “Journey with Jesus” video series, which will continue every Tuesday and Thursday.

Though the Pilgrim Center of Hope has not resumed live events, its doors are open to visitors.

Project Cool is a collaborat­ion of Catholic Charities, the city of San Antonio, United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County, and St. Vincent de Paul. This year’s program kicked off June 5.
