The A-List
OUR PICKS FOR WHAT TO SEE AND DO THIS WEEK
1. Home video
The 45th anniversary reissue of the music documentary “Heartworn Highways,” which showcases outlaw country pioneers such as Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark, is accompanied by a sequel, “Heartworn Highways Revisited.” One notable difference: The contemporary group of independent country musicians in the new movie includes women such as Nikki Lane and Shovels & Rope’s Cary Ann Hearst. Both available Tuesday on Blu-ray.
2. Streaming
Elizabeth Moss’ rebel handmaid is on the run in season four of “The Handmaid’s Tale,” which has moved well beyond Margaret Atwood’s novel. She no longer just wants to be free from the cruel masters of Gilead — she wants payback.
First three episodes available Wednesday on Hulu.
3. Movie
Michael B. Jordan, action hero, is the selling point of “Tom Clancy’s
Without Remorse.” The “Creed” star plays a Navy SEAL on the hunt for the Russian soldiers who killed his wife. It’s a Tom Clancy tale, so it gets complicated — and violent. Premieres Friday on Amazon Prime.
4. Opera
Composer Nathan Felix will premiere his new chamber opera, “Ribas-Dominicci,” as part of Texas Public Radio’s “Daystream” series. The work was inspired by the life of U.S. Air Force Maj. Fernando Luis Ribas-Dominicci, who was killed in 1986 while flying a mission off the coast of Libya. Ribas-Dominicci’s family lives in San Antonio. The work will be sung by mezzo-soprano Kathleen Shelton and baritone Lee Farrar Bailey.
2 p.m. Friday, Facebook: @texaspublicradio. Free.
5. Theater
The Harlequin is resuming live performances in a larger space.
The the next two shows will be staged in the grandeur of the
Fort Sam Houston Theatre. First up is “Classic Rewind,” a new revue created by Shawn Kjos celebrating singer-songwriters and other musicians of the 1970s. Opens Friday. Cocktails 7 p.m., show 8 p.m. Fridays-Saturdays through June 5, Fort Sam Houston Theatre, 2472 Stanley Road. Paywhat-you-can opening weekend; regular admission $10- $22. Reservations, 210-222-9694.
