OUR PICKS FOR WHAT TO SEE AND DO THIS WEEK
1. Concert
Live music returns to Paper Tiger with this free Cinco de Mayo show by Corpus Christi DJ, producer and cumbia electronica pioneer El Dusty. He was nominated for a Latin Grammy for best urban fusion for “Cumbia Anthem,” the lead track from his debut album, “Cumbia City.” With DJ Cesar K-OSO and Bruk Out.

2. Opera
Opera San Antonio’s first production since February 2020 is Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor,” starring soprano Brenda Rae in the title role. The tale will be told in a lean, 90-minute rendering that will include all of the bestloved arias.
7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, H-E-B Performance Hall, Tobin Center for the Performing Arts, 100 Auditorium Circle. $45 to $135, tobincenter.org. The Saturday performance will be livestreamed at operasa.org for free; the stream will be available through June 8.
3. Album
With help from fellow Texans Jack Ingram and Jon Randall, country star Miranda Lambert gets back to basics on “The Marfa Tapes.”
The album, which has a singing around the campfire feel, includes songs new (“In His Arms”) and old (“Tequila Does”), as well as a cover of Guy Clark’s “Homegrown Tomatoes.”
Available Friday.
4. Family
“Voyage to the Deep,” the DoSeum’s next big show, features hands-on displays modeled after the mythical world featured in Jules Verne’s “20,000 Leagues
Under the Sea.” That includes an octopus’ garden, a bubbly pipe organ and a giant Nautilus submarine they can climb inside and imagine piloting through the water.
Opens Saturday. Through Sept. 25, DoSeum, 2800 Broadway. $14, thedoseum.org.
5. Exhibit
The San Antonio Botanical Garden will give visitors an up-close look at the plant life that factored into much of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo’s work in “Frida Kahlo Oasis.” The exhibit also will recreate elements of Kahlo’s lush garden at Casa Azul, her Mexico City home. Monumental animals depicting some recurring images in her work will be found all over the garden.
Opens Saturday. Through Nov. 2, San Antonio Botanical Garden, 555 Funston Place. $12-$15, sabot.org.
