National Day of Prayer scheduled at Main Plaza
The 36th consecutive San Antonio National Day of Prayer will be held at noon Thursday at Main Plaza. Pre-service music will begin at 11:30 a.m. Chairs and bottled water will be provided.
The National Day of Prayer was established and signed into law in 1952. In 1988, the law was amended so the National Day of Prayer would be held on the first Thursday of May.
SoL Center will present multiple programs in May
The SoL Center is offering the following programs this month: On Tuesday at 7 p.m., the final session of its “Hope and Resilience: Perspectives From the World’s Religions” will be held. This Judaism session will be led by Nammie Ichilov. Other sessions included leaders from Islam, Christianity, Buddhism and Baha’i faiths. The cost for this session is $5.
On May 10, “Jesus and Muhammad: On Peace, Forgiveness and the Golden Rule” with Dr. Craig Considine will be held from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Cost for this session is $10 before Friday.
On May 15, the SoL Center presents “Dr. King’s Beloved Community: Where Do We Go From Here — Chaos or Community?” Bishop Trevor Alexander, senior pastor of True Vine Church, will lead the virtual presentation from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Cost is $5 before Friday, $10 after; scholarships are available.
