When and where Texans can get the COVID-19 vaccine
Supplies are increasing and more locations offer walk-in access to inoculations. We update this guide daily to give you what you need to know:
Who can get it now?
All Texans 16 and older are eligible to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
If I qualify, where can I get it?
Many clinics and pharmacies allow walk-ins or same-day appointments. The city offers text alerts about opportunities for appointments with public providers — to sign up, text Vaccine or, for alerts in Spanish, Vacuna, to 55000.
VIA Metropolitan Transit offers free rides to or from an appointment at a cityor county-sponsored COVID-19 vaccination site. Check VIAinfo.net for the latest service updates.
These providers offer walk-in access:
City: People 16 and older can get vaccinated without appointments from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday at the Alamodome drive-thru site. Metropolitan Health District also is holding a popup vaccine clinic at Trinity Lutheran Church, 5520 S. Flores St., 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, with no appointment needed. The city and Healthcare Access San Antonio also have a vaccine wait list open to all Texas adults (priority goes to those 65 and older). CVS: Walk-in access now available at most area CVS pharmacies. Same-day scheduling, including appointments as soon as in one hour, also is available at CVS.com . Those without online access can call CVS customer service at 800-746-7287.
H-E-B: Check availability at vaccine.heb.com. All H-E-B pharmacies welcome walk-ins without appointments from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
San Antonio Military Health System: Brooke Army Medical Center now offers vaccines every Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on a walk-in basis for all Tricare beneficiaries ages 16 and up. Same-day vaccine appointments also available. Check www.tri careonline.com for appointments or call 210-9169900 or 800-443-2262, option 8, from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays.
Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center also is letting all Tricare beneficiaries 16 and older make appointments, including those without medical conditions. Updates at bamc.tricare.mil and through social media and secure messaging.
South Texas Veterans Health Care System: Veterans, their spouses, their caregivers and Department of Veterans Affairs employees may show up without appointments at the Wonderland of the Americas mall, 4522 Fredericksburg Road, to get vaccinated from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays. Go to the former Stein Mart location. If veterans or employees prefer to schedule an appointment, they may contact the VA’s scheduling center at 210-949-9702. University Health: Appointments available at wecandoitsa.com for the vaccine clinic at Wonderland of the Americas mall. Walk-ins are accepted from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays at the Wonderland clinic’s lower level. Walk-ins also are accepted at the Robert B. Green campus, 903 W. Martin St., from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays only. A separate vaccine clinic at St. Philip’s College is giving only second doses from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays through Friday and is open only to those who received first doses there. An adult must accompany those ages 16 or 17. New appointment openings will be sent to cellphones through the system’s Go Mobile app and through its newsletter at HealthfocusSA.net. UT Health San Antonio: Appointments are available to anyone 16 and older to receive the Pfizer vaccine. Register at schedule.utmedicine sa.com. Walk-ins without appointments are accepted from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays at the School of Nursing Hurd Auditorium, 7703 Floyd Curl Drive. Priority is being given to people 80 and older.
Walmart, Sam’s Club: Walk-ins are now accepted at all Walmart and Sam’s Club pharmacies in Texas, as supply allows. Appointments also can be scheduled online at walmart. com/COVIDvaccine and at samsclub.com/covid. Walmart pharmacies are open seven days a week, while Sam’s Club pharmacies are closed Sunday. The pharmacies are offering the Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines. People don’t have to be a Sam’s Club member to get vaccinated there.
WellMed: Is winding down its community vaccination service. Reservations are still available online through June 4 for the single dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine at the Cisneros Senior Community Activity Center, 517 SW Military. To sign up, go to signup.com/go/AspRTdN. Walk-ins will be accepted at the Cisneros center from 1 to 5:30 p.m. weekdays based on vaccine availability. Must be 18 to book appointments, which also are available by phone at 833968-1745 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Visit wellmed healthcare.com/vaccine or WellMed’s Facebook page for updates.
The following providers require appointments:
Baptist Health System: Offering the Pfizer vaccine at various hospital campuses through Wednesday. Appointments available at baptisthealth system.com/ourresponse-to-covid-19/ covid-19-vaccineregistration. Ages 16-17 must have parental consent.
CentroMed: Go to www. centromed sa.com to check for availability and schedule an appointment. You can also call 210-334-3820 to schedule an appointment.
Christus Santa Rosa Health System: Appointments are made through an online chat function at vaccinate.christushealth .org, which screens for eligibility — if it does not appear, no appointments are available.
Comal County: Registration open for mass vaccine clinic on May 19 at the New Braunfels Civic/Convention Center, set for 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Information registration is at co.comal. tx.us. Those without computer access can call 830620-5575.
Walgreens: Area Walgreens pharmacies now offer same-day vaccine appointments to those 16 and older. Appointments are strongly encouraged and available at wal greens.com/schedule vaccine or by calling 800Walgreens, where Englishand Spanish-speaking schedulers are available. Some pharmacies offer walk-in access without appointments, but check first with individual locations.
